Upgrading your PC can be complex.  First, you have to figure out what aspects of your system most need upgrading.  The, decide what compnents to upgrade to fulfil your aim - and that's just the beginning!

Ideally, next you'll research the choice of components available on the market and make your choices.  Of course, you'll need to check whether the components you choose will be compatible with other components in your system. 

None of these steps are impossible or require a genius.  But, if you don't spend the time to do it properly, then worst-case scenario is buying a new processor that won't work with your motherboard when, in fact, all you needed was some more memory.  Installation should then be acheived using anti-static techniques so other components are your system aren't damaged.
